Turning Inserts
DNMG Carbide Turning Inserts
Negative 55° diamond turning inserts in ISO 1832 standard sizes — the sharper included angle gives better access for profiling, contouring and copying operations with lower cutting forces on steel, stainless steel and cast iron.
Product Overview
DNMG inserts are negative 55° diamond-shaped indexable turning inserts with a 0° clearance angle, available in standard ISO sizes DNMG150604 / 150608 / 150612 (IC 12.7mm, thickness 4.76mm, nose radius 0.4 / 0.8 / 1.2mm). The two-sided negative design delivers 8 cutting edges per insert, while the 55° geometry provides superior clearance for profiling, facing and external turning of steel, stainless steel and cast iron in semi-finishing and finishing operations.
Key Features
- 8 cutting edges per insert (two-sided negative design) — lowest cost per edge
- 55° diamond geometry reduces cutting forces and vibration in profiling
- CVD multilayer coating for wear resistance and thermal stability
- Stable substrate with consistent hardness across batches
- Edge passivation reduces chipping and extends tool life
- Factory-direct supply with custom grades and private-label packaging

FAQ
Questions Buyers Ask
What does DNMG stand for?
Per ISO 1832: D = 55° diamond shape, N = negative clearance angle (0°), M = tolerance class (medium), G = chip breaker/face type. DNMG150608: IC 12.7mm, thickness 4.76mm, nose radius 0.8mm.
What is the difference between DNMG and CNMG inserts?
Both are negative diamond inserts with 8 cutting edges, but DNMG has a 55° included angle (D type) while CNMG has an 80° angle (C type). The sharper DNMG corner provides better access for profiling, contouring and copying with lower radial cutting forces, while the 80° CNMG corner is stronger for heavy roughing and 90° shoulder work. Choose DNMG for profiling and contouring, CNMG for heavy roughing and square shoulders.
What is the difference between DNMG150604, 150608 and 150612?
The last two digits are the nose radius: 04 = 0.4mm (finishing, light cuts and fine profiles), 08 = 0.8mm (general purpose), 12 = 1.2mm (heavier cuts, stronger edge).
Which DNMG grade should I use for stainless steel?
For stainless steel (M group), use PVD-coated grades with sharper edges — they reduce work hardening and built-up edge. For carbon steel (P group), CVD-coated grades provide better wear resistance at higher speeds. For cast iron (K group), grades optimized for abrasive wear perform best. Send us your material and operation and we will recommend the grade.
Do you offer OEM / private label for DNMG inserts?
Yes — OEM/ODM with private-label packaging, custom grades and laser marking per your specification. Standard sizes MOQ 10 pcs, with application support for grade selection.
